Hispanopedia:Affiliate policy

From Hispanopedia

This page describes the affiliate link policy of Hispanopedia. Its purpose is to ensure transparency with readers and to preserve the editorial independence of the project.

An affiliate link is a link that, when used by a reader to make a purchase in an external store, generates a small commission for whoever publishes the link, at no additional cost whatsoever to the buyer. The price of the product is exactly the same as if the store were accessed directly.

On Hispanopedia, these links appear mainly on the page Hispanopedia:Book sources and are always identified with the mark (affiliate) next to the name of the corresponding store.

Use of the income

Hispanopedia is a non-profit cultural association, registered in the Registro Nacional de Asociaciones (National Registry of Associations) under Organic Law 1/2002. All of the income generated by affiliate links reverts to the association and is used exclusively to sustain the project: technical infrastructure (servers, domains, software), management expenses of the association itself and activities in keeping with its founding purposes.

No member of the Board of Directors receives remuneration for managing this income.

Editorial independence

The existence of affiliate programs does not in any case determine the selection, content or approach of Hispanopedia's articles. In particular:

  • The inclusion or exclusion of bibliographic references in an article responds exclusively to encyclopedic criteria.
  • The choice of stores in Hispanopedia:Book sources is not based on the amount of the commissions, but on the coverage and availability of the catalog for the Spanish-speaking public.
  • Links to stores without an affiliate program (when they are included for the sake of completeness, such as WorldCat or public libraries) are presented on an equal footing with affiliate ones.

Transparency

All of Hispanopedia's affiliate links are explicitly identified with the mark (affiliate). This identification complies with the advertising regulations in force, in particular the General Advertising Law 34/1988 and the provisions derived from Directive (EU) 2019/2161 (Omnibus Directive).

Contact

For any question, suggestion or complaint regarding this policy, the association can be contacted through the means indicated at Hispanopedia:Contact.
