Description
Español: Retrato de Juan de Mariana, realizado en 1752 por Francisco Javier de Santiago Palomares. Dibujo sobre papel agarbanzado pluma, tinta y aguadas grises y negras.

En el contorno ovalodo del retrato hay una inscripción en español: "P. JUAN DE MARIANA NACIÒ EN TALAVERA A 25 DE SEPTIEMBRE DE 1536 ENTRÒ EN LA COMPAÑIA DE JESUS EN ALCALÀ A 1º DE ENERO DE 1554 MURIÓ EN TOLEDO A 17 DE FEBRERO DE 1624".
En la cartela inferior hay una inscripción manuscrita en latín a tinta negra:
"Ità de se I. Mariana cecinit ante Scholia in Vet. et Nov. Testamentum, edita an. 1619
Elbora mi genitrix. Complutum mystica nutrix.
Romæ et Lutetiæ dogmata sacra diu
Sat invenis docui. Multo inde labore Toletum
Conscripsi Hesperiæ tempora prisca redux:
Pondera, Regemque et scenam, de morte, Jacobo,
Pascha, Egira, nummis, in Biblicosque libros.
Est Mariana domus, Jesu inter vita fodales:
Multiplicis sophia cultus, amica quies
An dabis extinctus tarda ut post fata quiescam,
Octo novemque, Deus, quem fere lustra premunt?
Sacose fielmente este diseño de un Retrato original, que se guarda en el Colegio de la Compañía de

Jesus de Toledo."
